The Inverted Forest (12/02/11)

CLE Book Club - The Inverted Forest

Why you should attend:

  • Genetically disfigured and suffering deep anxiety that his intelligence might be subnormal, camp counselor Wyatt Huddy arrives at the Kindermann Summer Forest Camp to learn that for the first two weeks the counselors will be responsible for severely developmentally disabled adults.  Soon Wyatt is called upon to prevent a tragedy and ends up committing a terrible crime.  After his lawyer and witnesses play him off as one of the campers instead of a counselor, he is placed in a state mental hospital due to mental incapacity
  • Author John Dalton (brother of our very own Joan Dalton) will read from his latest novel, The Inverted Forest, followed by a discussion of the book and some of the issues it raises, including whether justice was properly served by Wyatt's commitment.

Special Note:

  • We encourage everyone to read the book either before or after this CLE, but it is not a requirement.  Author John Dalton will be available to sign books at the end of the CLE presentation.

Credit Hours:

  • May qualify for up to 1.0 hour of CLE Credit

Location:

  • Capital Center Building, Basement Conference Rooms A&B
